Grades fourth through seventh competed using their science skills to seek a coveted ribbon, medal or trophy.
This is the second year the Highland School District has hosted the District Science Fair.
Projects were on display in the upper portion of the activity center for the public to view prior to the awards.
Teachers from the Middle School presented awards at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
Schools from the area which competed included Norfork, Concord, Cave City, Midland, Cedar Ridge, Batesville, Calico Rock, Cord-Charlotte, Sulphur Rock, Viola, Newark, Calico Rock Home School and Highland.
In fourth grade, the overall winner was Bryson Hicks from Calico Rock, with first runner up Lance Caughron from Sulphur Rock. In fifth grade, Mikayla Collins won the overall award. In the sixth grade, Kaitlyn Allen of Viola took top honors, while seventh grader Bre Howard from Cave City won overall for her division.
