Lady Cougars set school record for wins

The Izard County Lady Cougars continued their impressive roll of the past few years with a 6-0 win over Mammoth Spring in the finals of the 1A-2 East District Tournament April 30 at the Cougar Sports Complex in Brockwell.

Over the course of the past seven years, the Lady Cougars have either won the conference and district, or finished as runners-up.

They have won the conference title five times and the district crown four times. This season's 28 wins also sets a school record for the squad.

At the plate, Taylor had two hits and two RBIs. Kaydie Campbell logged a pair of hits and an RBI for the Lady Cougars.

Jordan Sherrell, Makayla Gross and Hailey Hall each added hits for Izard County. Alex Taylor had the Lady Bears' only hit, and she took the loss in the circle, striking out six, while giving up seven hits and three walks.
