Preston Harmon came out on top of a pitcher's duel with Hillcrest's Hunter Nunnally, and the Izard County Cougars came out on top of the scoreboard with a tight 2-0 win over the Screamin' Eagles in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament's consolation game May 7 in Brockwell.
Izard County and Hillcrest advanced to the Class 1A State Tournament in Taylor.
Neither team was able to score until the Cougars broke free for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Harmon was the winning pitcher for Izard County, allowing just three hits and one walk, while striking out 13. Nunnally also struck out 13, while issuing three walks and allowing five hits.
Blake Worsham and Chris King posted an RBI each for the Cougars.
Uriah Mead had two hits, while Harmon, Eli Blankenship and Worsham had one hit apiece for Izard County.
