Salem Farmer's Market

to open May 12

Saturday, May 12 is the date for the first Salem Farmer's Market on the Salem square.

Vendors plan to be open from 7 a.m. to one p.m. Pickren Street, at the west edge of the square, will be closed to vehicle traffic during those hours.

There is no charge to be a farmer's market vendor, but those who wish to sell produce, crafts or other products must submit a vendor application. Applications are available at the County Extension Office on the square, or can be filled out on opening day.

Organizers expect from five to ten vendors initially. Because of early spring weather, vendors expect to have fresh garden produce to sell.

All are invited to come and check out what is available.

Bingo Friday nights at Salem VFW Hall

The Salem VFW 9777 has bingo every Friday night at 6 p.m. Two of the jackpots are up to $230. Bingo is open to the public, with doors opening at 5 p.m. There are 22 games played, Regular games payout $30. The Veterans and auxiliary members ask for you to come out and join the fun. The VFW hall is located just off Highway 395, north of Salem.

Viola FD Fish Fry

Saturday, May 19

The Viola Fire Department is holding a Fish Fry on Saturday, May 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Viola School Cafeteria.

Adults are just $8, and children age 12 and under are $4.

Come on out and support your local firemen, and enjoy some great food too.
