Oregon County University of Missouri Extension honored Jim Heiskell during the Extension's May 7 open house at the courthouse in Alton. Heiskell's name was added to the University of Missouri Extension's "Leader's Honor Roll." He was awarded a certificate signed by the president of the University of Missouri during the ceremony. Heiskell has served many terms on the Extension Council as a member and as council chair. His undying determination and support of the mission statement Extension is based upon helps Oregon County provide research-based knowledge and problem-solving resources to meet the priority needs of the people, County Program Director Willis Mushrush said.
Each county Extension office has an opportunity each year to nominate a person who has made contributions of time and service in developing and carrying out Extension programs. Over the past 30 years, nearly 6,000 Missourians have been added to the University of Missouri Extension Leader's Honor Roll.
Oregon County Extension secretary Barbara Simpson invites everyone to stop by the Extension office in the courthouse basement to view the new plaques displaying the names of friends, family, and neighbors who have received this honor since 1951.
