Sharp County Re-Elects Coroner in Sharp County Primary

Despite only 15 percent voter turnout in the May 22 Primary Election in Sharp County, Coroner Doug Wortham was re-elected and the Williford Volunteer Fire Department's initiative to have fire dues included in resident's personal property taxes was passed.

1671 voters cast votes deciding the positions. Also on the ballot for the primary were Democratic Presidential hopeful John Wolfe and Barack Obama.

Other races included the seat for U.S. Congressional District 1 seat. The Republican ticket included Presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.

Sharp County voters also decided on candidates for the State Supreme Court Associate Justice, Position 4, Court of Appeals Associate Judge for District 2 Position 2.

1,039 Democratic ballots were cast in the Primary, 607 Republican and 25 Non-Partisan.
