THERE MAY NOT BE eight maids milking, five golden rings or a partridge in a pear tree, but the 17th annual Grizzly Golf Classic June 8 at the West Plains Country Club WILL have these nine Nike VRS drivers, which will be awarded as flight prizes during the day-long event. Many other prizes will be given away, and each golfer will be treated to lunch and receive a premium Nike wind shirt, organizers said. Sponsored by the Grizzly Booster Club, the annual three-person scramble tournament raises funds for the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly Athletics program to support team travel, student-athlete recruitment and other vital needs of the basketball and volleyball programs. Sign up is still underway, so area residents are encouraged to get their teams together and register. Fees are $150 per person or $450 per team, and carts can be reserved for $25 each. Check-in time is 11:30 a.m. The tournament will get underway at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. For more information or to obtain an entry form, contact Dr. Herb Lunday, dean of student services, at 417-255-7255. With the drivers above are, from left, Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann, sophomore volleyball player Candyce Alexander, sophomore basketball player Kris Frazier and Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Yancey Walker.
