Couch School Board

The Couch R-1 Board of Education met in regular session in the school library on May 14, 2012.

The board discussed the recent sale of the damaged bus advertised on Craig's List. The board voted to accept the Library Media Center Evaluation Report, the Special Education Program Evaluation Report, and the Technology Plan Evaluation Report. The board voted to approve the Special Education Compliance Plan and Core Assurances for the 2012-13 school year. The board voted to approved the revised Crisis Management Plan and the revised MSBA Board Policies, as presented.

During reports, the principal presented enrollment and attendance reports for the year. He reported that he had received a letter from the West Plains Grizzly's Coach which commended one of Couch's students who participated in the All Star Game sponsored by the college. He also presented a sheet showing end of course test results.

The superintendent reported that the auditor is scheduled to be on campus on August 6 and 7. He also reported that he and the principal had completed a walk-through of the buildings to pinpoint maintenance projects that need to be addressed this summer.

In Executive Session, Melissa Rogers addressed the board. The board accepted Allen Woods' resignation as boys basketball coach and athletic director. The board voted to employ Chris Miller as the boys basketball coach/teacher and Adam Blackwell as the girls basketball coach/teacher. The board approved adding Marlan Goodding's name to its substitute list. The board hired John McCully and Sidney Younger as janitors, Mike Honeycutt as Maintenance Man/Bus Mechanic, and Christy Deree as Elementary Secretary for the 2012-13 school year.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Couch School Board of Education will be on June 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the school library. All interested patrons are invited to attend.
