A Cave City woman is lucky to be alive after the SUV she was driving was hit by a tractor trailer on June 6 on the Piney Creek bridge on Highway 167 near Evening Shade.

Danny Jones, of Mountain Grove, Mo., was the driver of the semi.

Carrie Brightwell suffered minor injuries when Jones' cattle hauler crossed the center line and hit the left front tire of her vehicle, flipping it onto the driver's side, and dragging her approximately 50 feet across the bridge.

Arkansas State Trooper Ben Rapert worked the accident.

Witnesses at the scene said Jones had been swerving prior to the accident.

One witness who was in front of the Brightwell vehicle stated that the semi's trailer narrowly missed hitting his vehicle before making contact with Brightwell.

First responders from the Evening Shade Fire Department and Spring River Paramedic Ambulance Service assisted Brightwell in getting out of her upturned vehicle.

Brightwell was transported to White River Medical Center where she was treated and released for minor injuries to her arms from broken glass.

Jones was cited for careless and prohibited driving in the accident.
