Golf Tournament to

benefit Salem Athletics

The 21st annual Greyhound Classic Golf Tournament will be held on August 4, 2012 at The Golf Course on Turkey Mountain. Entry fee for the two-person scramble is $70 per team. To enter the tournament, call Wendall Smith (895-2220) or Tim Eckman ( 417-280-0242). All proceeds benefit the Salem High School Athletic Department.

Free canning classes

offered in Thayer

"OSLU classes for July are on the topic of canning and preserving the harvest from your garden," said Deb Slack, heritage studies teacher. "Ozark Self Reliant Living University provides free classes every month on topics we used to learn at home from our grandmothers. Life skills that everyone can use. In this case, how to have a great garden, raising nutritious, great tasting food for less money."

The class in Thayer will be held at the Oregon County Country Music Theater 1 p.m .to 3 p.m., Saturday July 14. The West Plains class will be held Sunday, July 15 at the Next Step Seventh Day Adventist Church in West Plains. All classes are free of charge. For information, call Slack at 417-264-2435.

George D. Hay to

welcome Sunny Side Up

Sunny Side Up Blue Grass will appear at the George D. Hay Music Foundation Theater at 7:00 p.m. July 14, 2012. Come on down and enjoy some rollicking blue grass music.
