Alton senior chosen to play on 2012 World Series Team

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Wesley Carswell, a rising senior at Alton High School, was chosen to play first base in the 2012 Under Armor/Baseball Factory National World Series in Bradenton, Fla., at Pirate City.

As an All-District and All-Conference standout on his high school baseball team, his coach Jarvis Reed saw the immense potential in this young player.

Coach Reed, an outspoken advocate for his players, landed Carswell an invitation to the Baseball Factory national tryout in Kansas this past June.

Carswell, a multi-talented player, usually plays at the catcher position during the regular high school season, also shines at first base.

After an extensive evaluation, his soft hands, exceptional flexibility and sharp eye were impressive. Carswell was chosen to play with and against the best players in the U.S., and will be coached by professional baseball players and pro scouts.

At 6'4", Carswell is also an All-Conference basketball player for Alton High.

Carswell's goal is to make the most out of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity he's worked so hard for, move on to play baseball in college and earn a degree in Criminal Justice.
