Couch School announces registration dates and Open House

Classes at Couch School will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Elementary classes will start at 7:59 a.m. and end at 3:16 p.m. High school classes will start at 8:04 a.m. and end at 3:16 p.m.

Meal prices for elementary and high school students are $1 for breakfast, $1.30 for elementary lunch, and $1.40 for high school lunch.

Registration for students who are new to the district will be on Monday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the elementary and high school offices. When enrolling new students, parents should bring a copy of the student's birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, as well as contact information from the student's previous school.

Schedules for high school students currently enrolled have been mailed and were based upon student course selections earlier this year. Should students need to make changes to their schedules, they may do so according to the following schedule:

Seniors -- Aug. 2 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Juniors -- Aug. 2 from noon to 3 p.m.; Sophomores -- Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; and Freshmen -- Aug. 3 from noon to 3 p.m.

Open House will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Following the general meeting and introduction of staff members in the old gym, teachers will be in their classrooms. Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet with teachers and visit classrooms. Make plans now to attend with your family.

Freshman orientation for all incoming freshmen students and their parents will be held on Aug. 14, immediately following the general meeting at the Open House. After a brief meeting with the Principal and A+ Coordinator, freshmen will have the opportunity to locate lockers, classrooms, and visit with teachers. Some student organizations will be on hand to answer any questions students might have about activities at the school.

Free sports physicals are being offered on Aug. 1 at the Thayer Medical Clinic from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., and at the Alton Medical Clinic from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. All students involved in extra-curricular sports must have a current sports physical on file with the school, in order to participate in sports activities. Students must have a parent signature on the physical form in order to complete the physical. Forms are available in the school offices during normal business hours.
