Oregon County residents enjoyed a free pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday, July 21 at the Fun and Friends Senior Center in Thayer, complements of friends and family of Alonzo Bradwell, Southern County Commissioner Candidate.

While the breakfast was free, donations were accepted to benefit the Thayer American Legion to assist veterans with medical needs.

More than $87 was raised, according to Bradwell.

Jeff Pogue, candidate for State Representative, attended the breakfast and encouraged veterans and supporters to make their voices known during the Aug. 7 primary, a sentiment also voiced by Bradwell.

"Too many people in Oregon County think that the County Commissioners are just road commissioners. I want to energize the county and concentrate on jobs. The veterans of the American Legion are an example of the best our country has to offer, and I am inspired by them, by their sacrifices to keep us free. I've always said that I'm like a battery and the voters are like jumper cables, and together we can jump start Oregon County and improve things for our children."
