The two candidates for the District 61 State Representative seat have been invited to the Aug. 6 meeting of the Fulton County VFW. The new District 61 seat will represent citizens in Fulton, Izard, Sharp and Randolph Counties.
Republican Rep. Lori Benedict of Sturkie and her Democratic challenger, Scott Baltz of Pocahontas, are to appear at the 7:00 p.m. meeting at the VFW hall on Highway 395 at VFW Road.
The meeting is open to the public. Anyone who would like to meet and hear from the candidates is invited to attend.

The Sharp County Master Gardeners present a fundraising concert featuring Lauren Gray, "The voice of the Ozarks," with her father, Mike Gray. The concert will be Saturday, Aug. 11 at Creekside Loft in Hardy, Ark. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be lots of door prizes. Tickets are only $10 each and can be purchased at Tri-County Farm and Ranch Supply, the Sharp County Cooperative Extension Office, from any Sharp County Master Gardener, or by calling 870-994-7575.
Limited seating is available, so get your tickets early. All proceeds will go to help with Sharp County Master Gardener's projects.
