The weekend of Aug. 10-11, Baxter County will be home to a "Pink Rodeo," "Pink Jail," and even a "Pink Sheriff" -- all in an effort to raise awareness of breast cancer and support services offered at the Peitz Cancer Support House (PCSH) of Baxter Regional Medical Center.

The Second Annual Pink for Peitz Rodeo, presented by the Chicks and Spurs Drill Team and Rand Rodeo, is set for 8 p.m. Aug. 10-11, at the Mountain Home Saddle Club Arena.

During the two-day event, breast cancer survivors will receive buttons recognizing them as survivors. Survivors will be honored in the arena as the rodeo announcer shares their stories of survival, courage and hope.

"Everyone is encouraged to wear pink," said PCSH Coordinator Regina Ellis. "We will have a 50/50 drawing and a table where people can get breast cancer awareness items for a small donation."

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery will put in a special appearance as the "Pink Sheriff" Friday night. "For a donation to the Peitz Cancer Support House, you can have yourself or a friend booked into our 'Pink Jail,'" Ellis said.

Special advance tickets are available at the PCSH for $5. Admission at the gate is $8 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds go to support services at the PCSH.
