The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville is currently offering open and continuous registration for new and returning students through August 10, 2012.

Open registration for the fall semester allows more convenience for students to prepare for the semester as they can visit enrollment, financial aid and advisors around their schedules.

According to director of enrollment management, Scott Post, UACCB began this updated approach to registration last year to help alleviate the stress of students having to attend one day registration events. "This differs from the older style arena registrations, where students stood in one line to fill out an application, another line to talk to financial aid, then another to finally register for classes on a specific date given to them."

Through Title III grant funding, UACCB established an advising center to enhance the student advising programs and faculty advisors already in place.

Director of advising, Jennifer Cannon, explains, "Following best practices from top community colleges, this model of academic advising allows students the opportunity to sit down with a trained, designated advisor and discuss more in depth the student's personal, educational and career interests to help plan a class schedule that fits their current needs, while keeping an eye on their future in the process."

Another new approach relating to fall registration for 2012 is mandatory orientation. Through fun and informative sessions, orientation will provide new students the resources they need to achieve success as a UACCB college student before they ever enter the classroom. Students may choose to attend orientation on Thursday, August 16, 2012 or Friday, August 24, 2012. "Bandit Bearings" is the theme for new student orientation and will incorporate the new UACCB River Bandit mascot.

UACCB offices will be closed on Monday, August 13 and classes begin August 20. To apply, students will need to fill out an application for admissions, provide a high school or GED transcript, copy of immunization record showing two MMR shots, and placement testing which may be taken at UACCB for $15.
