Drowning on the Spring River take life of 25-year-old

Spring River Ambulance First Responders and the Hardy Police joined the Fulton County Sheriff's Department on Saturday, July 28 after receiving a report of a possible drowning on the Spring River in Fulton County.

The 911 call was recevied at 7:23 p.m. A group of people told a Fulton County Deputy that several people decided to swim across the river. During the swim, Anthony Youngblood, 25, the last one in the group, began struggling and went under water. Fellow swimmers were able to find Youngblood and bring him to shore.

CPR efforts were begun until the ambulance arrived, and Youngblood was transported to the Fulton County Hospital. Youngblood was pronounced dead at the hospital. Drowning was listed as the cause of death.

The drowning is believed to be the first on the Spring River iin Fulton and Sharp Counties during the summer recreation season.
