The 24th Solemn Old Judge Days commemorates George D. Hay's visit to Mammoth Spring. He was a young newspaper reporter at the time, who came to cover a war hero's funeral. While here, he was invited to attend a hoedown at a local's home. This inspired him to begin the Grand Ole Opry. This year, the event will be held on Sept. 1.

The committee is working on scheduling activities and events. The following is a list of slated events and contact numbers, in case you would like to volunteer:

*Antique Car Show at Mammoth Spring State Park. The gates will open at 9 a.m., with judging beginning at 11:00 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee and judging will be done by MACC. Contact Ron Cornelius at 417-280-0162.
*Vendors and groups wishing to set up booths or games should contact Leta Montgomery at 870-625-0665. There is a $10 charge for a booth.
*For quilt show entries, contact Charlotte Hurtt at 870-625-3515.
*For the Cornhole Tournament, contact Charlie Hurtt at 870-625-3515.
*Musicians interested in playing at the event should call Jerry Smith at 870-625-3607.
