A free class from Ozarks Self-Reliant Living University will be taught Saturday August 4, 1pm to 3pm at the Methodist Church in Thayer . The topic of the classes will be Fall Gardening, how to feed your family and recover from the drought. As always, there will be no charge for the class.

"OSLU provides free classes in life skills of past generations that are needed today to feed and care for our families, including gardening, food preservation, soap making, cheese and yogurt making, baking and many other skills for healthy happy living" said Deb Slack, a Thayer resident who is a co-founder of OSLU along with Duane Dawson of Alton. Slack is a retired teacher, an avid gardener of many years, and an officer in Go Green Ozarks. She has taught seminars on raised bed gardening methods at the Go Green Festival in Thayer and the West Plains Sustainability Festival as well as other events.

Those interested in attending should call 417-264-2435 or email greeneyesblue77535@yahoo.com.

A schedule of upcoming classes will be made available to those who call or email.
