Salem Schools ready for the new year

The Salem School District will begin the 2012-2013 school year on Monday, Aug. 20. Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. Buses will run their morning and afternoon routes, and breakfast and lunch will be served in the cafeteria.

Lunch prices for grades K-12 are $1.35, reduced .40 cents. Breakfast prices for grades K-12 are .90 cents, reduced .30 cents. Adult lunch prices are $3.15; adult breakfast prices are $2.10.

Cafeteria workers are Martha Wood, Food Service Director; Betty Dihel, Elementary Head Cook; Pat Taylor, Melissa Ray, and Lou Crow, Elementary Cooks; Opal Sanders, High School Head Cook; Ester Eldried and Thelma Allen, High School Cooks.

The bus routes and drivers include Jason Howell, Bus Mechanic; Wendall Smith, Heart Route, Bus #30; Nathan Bales, Moko Route, Bus #11; Mike Innis, Byron Route, Bus #29; Judy Lindblom, Republican Route, Bus #14; Ted Kerley, Sturkie Route, Bus #16; Rob Long, Glencoe Route, Bus #35; Tina Hollaway, Camp Route, Bus #31; Johnny Mefford, Town/Squirrel Hill Route, Bus #10; Dana Johns, Union Route, Bus #19; Rebecca Bartz, Morriston Route, Bus #27; and Gary Hoover, Town/Young Road Route, Bus #7. A few bus routes have changed slightly due to student population shifts within the district.

Holidays and parent/teacher conference days for the upcoming year will be: September 3, Labor Day; October 23, Parent/Teacher Conference Day; November 21-23, Thanksgiving Holiday; December 21-January 1, Winter Vacation; March 14, Parent/Teacher Conference Day, March 18-22, Spring Break.

Wayne Guiltner has been designated as Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504 Compliance coordinator for the 20012-2013 school year.
