The raffle held by the Go Green Festival for the past several months is over and the winners have been drawn, according to Go Green Ozarks board member Deb Slack. There are six winners. Four of them will receive a quarter beef and two will receive a half a hog. Both the beef and the hog are pasture fed, all natural, with no chemicals. The beef was donated by Duane Dawson of Alton, and the hog by Deb and Mike Slack of Thayer.
The winners are Edith Greene of Myrtle, Mo. -- quarter beef; Roberta Stevens of Thayer, Mo. -- half a hog; Wayne Adrian of Alton, Mo. -- half a hog; Alice Kasper of Alton, Mo. -- quarter beef; Bill Willis of Alton, Mo. -- quarter of a beef; Leza Smith of Couch, Mo. -- quarter of a beef.
Go Green Ozarks sponsors the Go Green Festival in Thayer in the Spring and Fall of each year. The next Go Green Festival will be October 20 and 21 in Thayer City Park, near the rodeo arena.
The purpose of the festival is to promote self-reliance, growing the local economy, niche farming, organic gardening, alternative energy, and community spirit.
Last April's festival drew nearly 3,000 visitors from as far away as Memphis and Iowa, and more than 100 local vendors.
The event is family friendly and free. Vendors are free and children's activities include a carnival and money-in-a-hay-bale. For more information, call 417-264-2435.
