Friday, August 17, 2012

The South Central Cattlemen's Association will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Aug. 23, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative in West Plains.

MFA Oil Biomass Division will discuss the use of Miscanthus giganteus in the production of biofuels. Currently MFA Oil has contracted farms to grow Miscanthus in Paragould, Ark., Aurora, Mo, and another location in Missouri. Also at the meeting, Sarah Kenyon, University of Missouri Extension Agronomy Specialist, will speak on fall fertilization and pasture renovation after drought. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of Earl's Dodge.

South Central Cattlemen's Association was organized in 2009 serving cattle producers in Howell, Oregon, Ozark, and Shannon counties. The purpose of the Association is to advance economic, educational, political and social interests of the Missouri Cattle Industry.

All cattle producers, business associates, and members are encouraged to attend. For additional information contact Ron Gould, president, by email at rgould001@centurytel.net or 417-255-5001.
