The South Central Cattlemen's Association will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Aug. 23, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative in West Plains.
MFA Oil Biomass Division will discuss the use of Miscanthus giganteus in the production of biofuels. Currently MFA Oil has contracted farms to grow Miscanthus in Paragould, Ark., Aurora, Mo, and another location in Missouri. Also at the meeting, Sarah Kenyon, University of Missouri Extension Agronomy Specialist, will speak on fall fertilization and pasture renovation after drought. South Central Cattlemen's Association was organized in 2009 serving cattle producers in Howell, Oregon, Ozark, and Shannon counties. The purpose of the Association is to advance economic, educational, political and social interests of the Missouri Cattle Industry.
