"Farm families are an integral part of our state," said Fair Director Mark Wolfe. "The Fair is proud to partner with Missouri Farm Bureau to continue the tradition of dedicating a day to raising awareness of the contributions made by these men and women."
Local Farm Bureau Boards and County Extension Councils selected a farm family from each county prior to the State Fair, chosen for their involvement in agriculture and their community, Wolfe said. They were recognized at a dinner in their honor Aug. 13 at the Missouri State Fair.
Farm Family/Farm Bureau Day discounts will include $1 off an adult gate admission, $5 off a carnival ride wristband and up to $5 off a tractor pull ticket. Coupons are available in the Missouri Farm Bureau Show Me Magazine July/August issue and at county Farm Bureau offices.
Fairgoers are also encouraged to stop by the Farm Bureau Building during the Fair to register for a free drawing to win a John Deere lawn tractor. The 2012 Farm Bureau Ambassadors will also be in the building, and ice-cold milk will be served for 25 cents per cup.
The 2012 Missouri State Fair is currently underway in Sedalia and will run through Sunday, Aug. 19. For more information, visit www.mostatefair.com, or call 1-800-422-FAIR (3247). The Fair is also on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube.
