A hearty and heartfelt "Thank You" to all the volunteer fire fighters who turned out in force last Wednesday (Aug. 15) as fires were called in across the county.
It took Sturkie volunteers only seven minutes from the first call made to 911 for a water truck to arrive at the scene of a house fire on our farm.
Within a few minutes more, the house was surrounded with volunteers from several departments.
While John Emery was busy working our fire, news came that his hay bales had also been set ablaze, and calls of more fires just kept coming in.
Several volunteers left jobs and various activities to immediately respond when the calls came for help.
I can't think of any better example of Christianity or brotherhood than offering your service to others in need, anytime they need it.
Every firefighter responding was well trained, knowledgeable and willing to serve the community without personal compensation or benefit.
It was easy to see that their hours upon hours spent in training paid off in a display of professionalism and ability.
Thanks again for all you do week after week after week.
It was a day Fulton County could be proud of!
