According to meeting minutes, the city is in need of a building to house the Electric Department. Alderman Bob Grimes made the motion to begin the research process for the building. The council has already decided that the building will be approximately 60 feet by 100 feet and located in the City's Industrial park. No information was included regarding cost or how the building will be funded.
The council also made more definite plans for the airport. It voted to accept a bid from Bishops Construction Company of Marionville in the amount of $63,550.00 for the seal coat project at the airport. The minutes state that the city will be responsible for 10 percent of the cost.
Fire Chief Mark Arnold was present to address the council regarding the freight liner chassis, recently obtained through the Missouri Department of Conservation. Arnold said the 2008 vehicle would be best used as a tanker truck. The cost to properly equip the truck is approximately $3,500.00. The truck will be shared by the city and rural fire departments. The council voted that the city would pay for half of the expense of equipping the truck.
In other business...
The council voted to purchase cold mix for the street department in the amount of $2,000.00. The council also authorized Mayor Rogers to make the decision as when to purchase cold mix, because supplies are often depleted before regularly scheduled meetings.
The purchase of concrete was approved to allow the Parks Department to build a fall zone around the swings at Warm Fork Park The work will cost $1,900.00.
The council voted to purchase a Hamm Radio repeater which will be placed on one of the water towers. The repeater will enable the city to have radio communications with the National Weather Service during severe storms. It also voted that the repeater will be installed by Fire Chief Arnold.
