Dora ends Thayer's softball season

Thursday, October 18, 2012

The Thayer Lady Bobcats jumped into District play with a convincing first-round win over Bakersfield, then stepped to the plate vs. the Lady Falcons from Dora, falling, 10-0.

The Lady Cats were pumped up to be playing in a District title game and started off the first inning with a couple of base hits but were not able to produce any score.

The wind came out of the sails for the Lady Cats, after a quick Dora base hit and an over the fence two run homer. Lady Bobcat fielders were in good positions and made excellent plays on the ball, but the bats of the Lady Falcon's slapped base hits in gaps, to advance runners and add up nine first inning runs.

The Lady Bobcats maintained spirits and played excellent defense, only allowing one more Dora run. The Lady Cats were not able to generate the offense needed to mount a comeback. With the 10-0 Dora win, the Lady Falcon's take the first place plaque, and the Thayer Lady Bobcats take second place in 2012 class one district softball.
