The final week of the regular season has been an eventful one in Arkansas as the Salem Greyhounds and Highland Rebels both finished their regular seasons at 10-0 on Nov. 1.
On Oct. 31, the Thayer Bobcats traveled to St. Genevieve for a showdown with the two time defending class 1A state champion Warriors.
The Cats were outmatched from the start. The Warriors jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead and eventually won 44-14. This was the second round of the district tournament, so the Bobcats' season is over. Check out next week's edition of the South Missiourian news for more information about the game.
The Hounds had already clinched the teams first ever conference championship and a bye in the first round of the state playoffs. But Salem had a goal in the pre-season to have the school's first undefeated season. The team kept that goal alive on Nov. 1, by demolishing the Cross County Thunderbirds 42-16. The Hounds were up 42-0 at halftime and the team was playing mostly freshmen and other reserves in the second half.
The Highland Rebels dismantled the Trumann Wildcats 52-6 in the final regular season game.
The Melbourne Bearkatz close out their first regular season on Nov. 2.
