He was united in marriage November 13, 1955 in Mammoth Spring, Ark., to Hasseltine Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Hasseltine Hobbs of the home; two sons, Jerry Hobbs and wife, Sharon, of Russellville, Mo., and Larry Hobbs and wife, Amber, of Rolla, Mo; one daughter, Linda Crase and husband, Bob of Thayer, Mo.; eight grandchildren, James Hobbs and wife, Myrnda, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Joseph Hobbs of St. Louis, Mo., Kimberly Hobbs of Russellville, Mo.; Emma and Abby Hobbs of Rolla, Mo.; Amanda Crase, of Springfield, Mo.; Allen Crase and Angela Crase of Thayer, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Fred Wesson of Southhaven, Miss., and Sammy Smith and wife, Beckie, of Waynesville, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vada Hobbs; one grandson, Jarrod Hobbs; and two sisters-in-law, Nadine Wesson and Geraldine Smith.
Dean was a member of the Church of Christ in Franklin, Ark., a retired farmer and postal worker. He will be remembered as a caring husband, loving father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Hobbs were Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Arthur Mock officiating and Keith Rose leading congregational singing. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Mammoth Spring, Ark.. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Russellville School Foundation or Paragould Children's Home and may be left at the Funeral Home.
