Bomb threat causes havoc

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Police and fire units rushed to high schools in Salem, Viola, Mammoth Spring and Highland on Tuesday, Dec. 11, after a 911 caller said, "There is three bombs at the high school." Schools were evacuated as first responders searched for signs of explosives. Later in the day, a 67-year old man from Cherokee Village was arrested for Falsely Communicating a Terroristic Threat, a Class B Felony. Equipment at 911 dispatch indicated the call came from eastern Fulton County or Cherokee

Village. Further investigation traced the call to a Cherokee Village address. The man, who was not initially identified, is to appear in Fulton County Circuit Court in January.
