A Cherokee Village house that suffered extensive fire damage in August will be razed and removed by the city, after the house's out-of-state owner failed to clean up the property despite multiple requests.
The house is located at 99 Cochise Road in Cherokee Village.
The Cherokee Village City Council met for a special meeting on Thursday night, Dec. 13, to hear a resolution concerning the house.
Bob Bickle of the city's planning and zoning department said that the property's owner, Larry Goodwin, resides in Florida.
"(Goodwin) had the opportunity to be heard at a hearing," Bickle said. "This house is vacant and dilapidated. It is diminishing property values of neighbors and it is a safety hazard. He has also failed to maintain the outside property."
The resolution to raze the house passed unanimously, 5-0.
