Oregon County Recorder Resigns

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Oregon County Recorder April Bridges Blankenship recently resigned, indicating that she had moved out of the county.

Oregon County Commissioners have appointed Chief Deputy Dawn Holman to serve as interium recorder, until Governor Nixon appoints a replacement.

The replacement, who could be Holman, will serve out Blankenship's remaining term, which expires at the end of December 2013.

The election to choose a new recorder will be held on Nov. 13, 2013.

When an office holder resigns, Missouri law allows Democrat and Republican Central Committees to meet to interview possible candidates to fill the vacancy, and make a recommendation to the Governor as to who is favored by the parties to fill the vacancy.

On Thursday, Dec. 20, the Oregon County Democrat Central Committee will hold a 7 p.m. meeting at the Thayer Senior Center to consider candidates and make a recommendation of a candidate to fill out Blankenship's term.
