She was united in marriage Oct. 26, 1946, in Salem, Ark., to Cleo Janes, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2001.
She is survived by one sister, Lucrecia DuBois of Thayer, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Glen Janes and wife, Geneva, of Ozark Acres, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Crase of Alton, Mo., and Irene (Janes) Childers of Thayer, Mo.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Alta Crase; her husband, Cleo Janes; one brother, Royal Cornelius "Neal" Crase, and one infant sister, Maxine Crase.
Charleen was a 1945 graduate of the Couch High School. After graduation, she attended Southwest Missouri State Teachers College at Springfield, Mo..
Her love of children and the desire to teach led her to the first teaching position at the Arytown one room school. Later, she taught at Many Springs and other rural schools in the Couch and Myrtle areas.
She was employed by the Division of Family Services in Alton, Mo., retiring in 1986, after many years of service.
Charleen was a charter member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church, faithfully attending as long as health permitted.
She will be remembered as a Christian lady with a kind heart, a giving spirit, and a deep devotion to her family. She will truly be missed by all.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.
