Local author, Joel Harris, has found a second calling writing middle level fantasy, His work "Rise of the Carrion Lord" has been released to good reviews. Carrion Lord is the first of a series of fantasy novels for young readers. Rather than create a world of dinosaurs or ninja, Joel has taken another route to engage and mystify the reader. "Readers young and old will get caught up in this work", says Greg Bess, owner of Words AfterWords in Hardy.
Joel's first calling is to preach. He has been the pastor at the Ward Street church of Christ in Hardy, for nearly six years. An avid reader, Joel has always loved fantasy in any form. He is a native Arkansan. He was raised in Grant and Hot Spring Counties in central Arkansas. He is a graduate of Glen Rose High School in Hot Spring County.
In addition to Rise of the Carrion Lord, Joel has another novel in the same setting ready for submission, and a mystery/suspense novel for young readers nearly finished. He writes constantly, whether it's articles, short stories, or novels. Joel lives in Cherokee Village with his wife Lisa, daughter Autumn, son Ian, and their beloved dog Latte'.
Words AfterWords is one block north of Main Street at 201 Spring Street in Hardy, Arkansas. with handicap parking and access via the Hardy 1st Street parking lot behind the store. In addition to offering books, food, and coffee, Words AfterWords hosts art exhibits, live entertainment, and other events. It features Open Mic night every Thursday and a featured band every Friday and Saturday night.
