Wednesday, January 16, 2013

A body recovered from a submerged pickup truck in Lake Norfork is believed to be that of a Flippin man reported missing last October.

The body was discovered on Saturday, Jan. 12, when a person notified police a vehicle could be seen about 10 to 12 feet under the water at the end of the dock at the Clamity Beach boat launch area, in the Clarkridge area of Baxter County.

Sheriff's Sergeant Lee Sanders, who is a diver, went down to check the vehicle and found the body of a man inside of it. The body and vehicle were then recovered from the water. The truck is registered to a person from Flippin reported to be missing since October 2012.

The Baxter County Coroner's Office arranged for the body to be sent to the State Medical Examiners Office in Little Rock. The Medical Examiner will determine the identity of the body and a cause of death.
