Travis Bourgeois, 80, of Salem, Ark., was born on Aug. 2, 1932, in Raccourci Island, La., son of Landry "Son " Jules and Zelma Mary (Breau) Bourgeois. He departed this life on Jan. 24, 2013, at his home.

Travis was united in marriage to Nellie Irene Kimble on June 2, 1956, in Lettsworth, La. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years as a Master Sergeant, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Travis was a lifetime member of the Salem VFW Post #9777, where he served as past commander and where many people enjoyed his "cajun" cooking. He was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.

Travis is survived by his wife, Nellie Bourgeois, of Salem, Ark.; one daughter, Karen Sue Bourgeois, of Salem, Ark.; three sisters, Phyllis Beeching of Salem, Ark., Patricia Leblanc of Morganza, La., and Pam Roberts of Morganza, La.; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Landry "Son" and Zelma Bourgeois, two sons, Blane and Wayne Bourgeois, two brothers, Larry and Gary Bourgeois, and one sister, Sheila Osiecki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
