Izard County High School to host Class 1A Regional Tournament

Izard County High School has been selected by the Arkansas Activities Association to host the Class 1A Region 2 Basketball Tournament on February 26-March 1.

The regional tournament will consist of the top four girls and boys basketball teams from both the 1A 2 North Conference and the 1A 3 East Conference. The top four boys and girls basketball teams in the tournament will advance to the Class 1A State Tournament to be held at North Arkansas College in Harrison from March 4- 8.

Izard County Superintendent Fred Walker said, "On behalf of the Izard County Consolidated School District, I would like to thank our two representatives on the Arkansas Activities Association Board of Directors, Cave City Superintendent Steven Green and Beebe Assistant Superintendent Scott Embrey, for their support during the selection process. The support of Mr. Green and Mr. Embrey, along with support from other area administrators and coaches, was very instrumental to the success of our proposal to host the tournament."

Izard County High School was also selected by the AAA to host the Class 1A Region 2 Baseball and Softball Tournaments scheduled for May 9-12. These tournaments will consist of the 1A 2 East and 1A 2 West Conference members.

The top four baseball and softball teams in the tournaments will advance to the Class 1A State Tournament at Mountain Home from May 15-17.
