Chester Cotter passed away on May 4, 2014. He was the fourth of twelve children, born on June 4, 1927 to Thurlo and Gertrude Crotts Cotter. He attended school at Pickren Hall and served our country during World War II in the Army.
On March 10, 1951, he was married to Lola Wade in Viola, Ark. They had three children: Ken, Nancy and Floyd.
Chester was a member of the Viola Church of Christ. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing and watching baseball, playing cards and teasing his grandchildren. Everyone who met him noticed he had a great sense of humor. As a boy, Chester developed a love of the land and happily spent his life farming.
He is survived by his son, Ken Cotter and wife, Juanita, of Viola, Ark.; daughter, Nancy Cotter of Siloam Springs, Ark.; and son Floyd Cotter of Lane, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tobey Marberry; Amy Beck and husband, Jason,; Chrissy Lance and husband, Shawn; Jordan Cotter and wife, Jamie; Maggie Cotter; Haylee Connors; Tess Cotter; Luke Cotter; Blaine Marberry; Haydon Marberry; Cody Lance; Brady Lance; Sylvia Beck; and Jana Beck. Sisters: Alice Spence and husband, Junior; Fern Blake; Glendora Stone and husband, Jim. Brothers: J.R. Cotter; Leroy Cotter and wife, Helen; Carl Cotter and wife, Margaret; and Larry Cotter. Additionally, he is survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Chester was preceded in death by his wife Lola; parents Thurlo and Gertrude Cotter; brothers: Marvin Cotter, Glen Cotter, Randall Cotter and Birl Cotter.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May, 7 ,at 10 a.m., at the Viola Church of Christ. Burial followed at Pleasant View Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers were Jason Cotter, Calvin Cotter, Jeff Stone, Jason Beck, Kyle Wright and Justin Luther; Honorary pallbearers are Ray Wade, L.J.
