OFLP summer reading camp registration open

Registration is open for "Get in the Game... Read!" The Ozark Foothills Literacy Project's 2016 Summer Reading Camp for children entering 1st through 6th grades. The camp is set for June 6-9, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. at the Fellowship Bible Church (formerly Landers Theater), 156 S 3rd St., Main Street in Batesville.

The camp will offer a fast paced morning of engaging reading and writing activities with a focus on stories related to competition, physical activity and sports heroes. Activities will include story time, an obstacle course, readers theater, creative writing, recipe reading to make sport-themed snacks, word games and more. The camp will be led by certified teachers, including Literacy Project board member Julie Reardon.

Registration fees are $99 per child until May 27. After May 27 the cost is $125. A $25 discount is offered to siblings. Register online at oflp.org/read2016 or by phone at 870-793-5912. Space is limited.

The Literacy Project, which serves Fulton, Sharp, Izard and Independence Counties, teaches adults who are learning to read and adults who are learning English. The Literacy Project relies on trained volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring for its adult students. The Literacy Project is a United Way member agency and part of the Arkansas Literacy Councils network of adult literacy organizations.
