Local LEO honored with parade and dinner on 9-11
Police departments across Sharp County came out in full force Sept. 11, not due to an emergency, but rather as part of the Sharp County Officer Appreciation Day and Prayer Covering event.
Officers with each department in the county, as well as the Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Sharp County Sheriff's Department, gathered at the Highland High School parking lot to begin a parade procession more than 50 vehicles long.
The parade then made its way to the Ash Flat Church of Christ in Ash Flat where officers and their families were treated to an appreciation dinner.
As part of the event, which was orchestrated by area churches, pastors from each of the participating churches took turns praying over the officers and their families as they ate. The officers were also presented with prayer cloths which could be carried with them in their vehicles while on duty.
