Fatal crash near Baxter/Fulton line
On Wednesday, June 28, there was a two-vehicle head-on collision on Hwy. 62/412, approximately a mile east of the Henderson Fire Station. The two-vehicle MVA (mobile vehicle accident) claimed two lives, and a third individual was taken to an emergency center by helicopter.
Itís been reported that the accident took place on Birch Hill Drive.
Arkansas State Police later released the identities of the two individuals who were killed in the head-on collision.
According to the Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary from Corporal Jay Bryan, the victims were Phillip Earl Woods, 64, of Jonesboro, in the first vehicle, and Jimmy Dewayne Lowe, 65, of Kennett, Mo, in the second vehicle. The third individual is listed as a minor, who was in the first vehicle. The Arkansas State Police report lists the cause of the accident as follows, ďAs the vehicles approached each other traveling in opposite directions, the first vehicle crossed in the west bound lane and struck the second vehicle, head on. The unidentified minor was transported to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo. Woods, in the first vehicle, was driving eastbound in a 2005 Buick LeSabre when his vehicle crossed in the westbound lane and struck a 2005 Dodge Caravan.Ē
Bryanís report indicates that the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the 2:25 p.m. crash.
