Celebrating the birth of our nation

To celebrate the birth of our nation the traditional activities were held throughout the community.

Monday, July 3 the city of Alton held their annual fireworks show. Many people showed up to event to visit and enjoy many of the activities and vendor booths. Some of the activities for children to enjoy were bounce houses, pony rides and games. Also featured was the “D’Rango Band” from Springfield.

The initial fourth of July celebrations for Thayer were rescheduled due to rain and were held Friday, July 7.

KKountry 95 announcer Mike Crase, also known as Redbone, in honor of the community raising $5,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, wore a red, white and blue romper with his cowboy boots and hat while he announced the event.

Spectators watched skydivers and aerobatic flying as well as music from band Southern Edge throughout the evening. Some attendees even showed their dance moves with a little line dancing. In addition, there were many booths for patrons to visit along with food

Christy Collins of Thayer was the winner of the Summer Rewind Dream Boat vacation dreamboat give-a-way was announced.
