Izard County Senior Life Center offers variety of services to community

Thursday, October 12, 2017

The Izard County Senior Life Center, located in Brockwell, is known by many. The center offers more amenities for Izard County Seniors than one might expect at a rural center.

There is an extensive menu, with meals served at the center every weekday. The center requests a donation of $3 per meal for clients over age 60 and a charge of $5 per meal, for clients under 60 and unregistered guests. For eligible homebound clients aged 60 and older, home delivered meals are offered.

Senior Center Director, Susan Williams, works to organize and offer activities to meet the varied interests of our clients. An activity calendar is published each month with regular activities, as well as special events and trips for clients. The center has organized trips to Branson, horseback riding and the Amish community. The center also plans cruises to Europe and the Caribbean for clients and area residents. Regular events include line dancing, bingo, exercise, Wii Sports and dancing to live music. Izard County seniors may also take advantage of a library, exercise room, pool tables and card games available every day.

A thrift store at the center accepts gently used items from the community. Proceeds from the sale of thrift store merchandise are used exclusively at the Izard County Senior Life Center.

The center is located at 30 Chapel Hill Road, in Brockwell, off Hwy. 9 North. It is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center is a service of White River Area Agency on Aging and managed by White River Health System. To contact the Izard County Senior Life Center, call 870-368-6011.
