This year’s banquet will take place at the Omaha Center in Cherokee Village Jan. 23, with a mixer beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the banquet program beginning at 6:15 p.m.
“This year the banquet theme is Mardi Gras and so we want it to be very festive and we’re encouraging people to dress up if they want to but they don’t have to,” Kari Hollis executive director for the chamber said.
The guest speaker this year will be KAIT’s Chief Meterologist, Ryan Vaughan. Vaughan has a longstanding career in media with regards to weather and received the 2016 Broadcaster of the Year award.
This year’s banquet will hold some longstanding traditions such as the recognition of the E. Wilson Green Award. Nominees for this years award are Nimmi Desai, Rev. Angie Gage and Charlotte Goodwin.
In addition to the E. Wilson Green Award, Hollis said something new has been added with the Members of the Year Awards ceremony.
“We wanted to recognize our businesses and have sent ballots out to our membership so that they may vote. We have six different categories and it’s divided by the size of the business. We have a bronze, silver, gold and platinum category as well as individuals and non – profit categories. We sent out a ballot where they [membership] can vote for five members or three members in each category depending on how many members or businesses were in the category. We’ll announce the top businesses selected but the top vote recipient will receive an award,” Hollis said.
Tickets to the banquet are $20 per person or $200 per sponsorship which will include a table of eight seats as well as sponsorship recognition. Tickets may be purchased by contacting a board member or by calling the Chamber office at 870-856-3210.
