Two vehicle accident claims the life of one
A two vehicle accident claimed the life of an Evening Shade resident Aug. 3 following a two vehicle accident which took place in front of the White River Medical Center Emergency Room in Highland.
The accident which occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m., resulted in the death of Linda Berry, 68, who was in the passenger side of a Jeep Cherokee being driven by her daughter, Jennifer Berry.
According to an accident report from the Highland Police Department and witness statements, Jennifer was sitting in the turn lane preparing to turn left onto Hospital Drive in Cherokee Village. She began negotiating the turn, turning in front of a Maroon Lincoln sedan being driven by Hildred Johnson.
Johnson’s vehicle struck the Jeep in the passenger side, causing the Jeep to overturn, coming to rest in the grass of the emergency room property.
Due to the location of the accident, they were taken inside the emergency room rather than being transported to an area hospital.
Personnel from the emergency room, as well as the Highland Police and Fire Departments, Sharp County Sheriff’s Department, Cherokee Village Fire Department, Spring River Ambulance Service and Survival Flight responded to the call.
