Thanksgiving is upon us meaning right around the corner is Christmas and many area activities to celebrate the season.

Altonís Christmas parade will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. Little Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas will begin at 9 a.m. at Alton School.

Koshkonong Sparkle and Shine itís Christmastime Parade will be Saturday, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. The day will begin with breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 8 to 10 a.m. at Koshkonong Elementary Cafeteria sponsored by the Koshkonong FFA Alumni. Voting cans for Christmas candidates will also be in the cafeteria at this time. From 8 to 11 a.m. pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be taken. Pictures will be uploaded to the Koshkonong 2018 Parade Facebook page. There will be no fee for pictures.

The Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas crowning will be at 11 a.m. in the Koshkonong High School gymnasium.

Line-up for the parade will be behind the school beginning at 12 noon. Those with animals are asked to park at the ballfield.

Lunch sponsored by the Koshkonong School alumni will be served at the Senior Citizens Center from 12 noon to 2 p.m.

There will be cash prizes for floats including: Best Overall Float, Best Antique Automobile or Tractor, Equine, Livestock or other farm animal and band. First place will receive $50, second place will be awarded $30 and third will receive $20.

Thayer Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Following will be the crowning of Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas at the Whistle Stop Stage located downtown near the police station.

Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery will hold their first annual Holiday Open House at the Hatchery Aquatic Conservation Center. Patrons will be treated to hot chocolate, coffee, cider and cookies. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in Nature Ornament Making between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the chance to shop for holiday gifts in the Cast a Line Gift Shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pictures with Santa will also be available.

Mammoth Spring will hold its annual Christmas Extravaganza parade on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 15 beginning at 6 p.m. The crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas will follow.
