Final meeting to discuss Middle White River Watershed to be held in Calico Rock

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

The final public information meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 in Calico Rock by the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission to discuss the components of the voluntary, non-regulatory Draft Watershed-Based Management Plan for the Middle White River. The meeting will be at the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission North Central Regional Office, 1125 AR 56 Hwy.

It will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude by 3:30. There is no charge to attend.

This is the last of four public meetings. The first meeting was in Batesville on May 31, the second was in Calico Rock on Sept. 11, and the third was in Batesville on Nov. 28.

After a summary is given of the November 28th meeting in Batesville, the primary components of the Draft Watershed-Based Management Plan for the Middle White River will be explained, including highlighted subwatersheds, proposed management activities with cost-sharing and technical assistance opportunities, and other activities such as proposed monitoring, outreach, and educational opportunities. During the meeting, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide suggestions for the Draft.

The Watershed Management Plan should be completed by September of 2019. It will provide a framework for landowners, communities, and organizations to voluntarily undertake water quality projects in the watershed and improve their ability to solicit and secure funding and assistance from various government and private sources.
