HOEC reports power outages due to high winds

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

Officials at Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (HOEC), report approximately 950 plus members were without power on Saturday evening following the extremely high winds that moved throughout the HOEC service area. Crews were dispatched around 3 p.m. on Saturday and worked until around 4 a.m. Sunday to safely restore power. According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts reached 62 mph. As a result of the high winds three power poles were broken. We would like to remind members if they see a downed power pole, please stay away from it and report it to the cooperative immediately at 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. Outage updates will be posted on the HOEC Facebook page. Please note that Facebook is not an avenue to report an outage. If you need to report an outage, please do so by calling 417-256-2131 or 1-888-HOE-POWER. You can also report an outage on the cooperative website at www.hoecoop.org. Myles Smith, Manager of Member Services said, “High winds can be brutal for us especially when the ground is saturated like it was over the weekend. Trees from outside the right-of-way can fall and bring down power lines. Our crews did a great job safely restoring power. As always, we appreciate the patience of our members.”
