Plans are in the works for the replacement of the bridge located on Business 63 over the BNFS Railroad and Two-Mile Creek by Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).

If everything goes as planned, the project is expected to be awarded in April 2020 with construction planned for summer of 2020. The project is still in the preliminary stages and a contract has not yet been created.

MoDOT has also communicated with Thayer School to lessen the impact on school bus routes.

The bridge is also still in the process of being designed. However, it will be raised six inches and the width will be increased. The current bridge is 20 feet wide, and the new bridge will be 26 feet wide and about the same length of the current one. It will include an attached five-foot-wide pedestrian walkway.

The project is expected to take approximately three months.

Public meetings are held to make sure the project would not interfere with area events or any other factors that could interfere with closing the bridge at a given time.

An informational meeting was held at Thayer Elementary School to discuss details of the project on Tuesday, March 26.
