WBU to host free Stunt and Tumble Clinic
If you are a fan of cheerleading, you will have an opportunity to showcase and improve your stunts and tumbling on June 29. Head Cheer Coach Emily Wisby announced the Williams Baptist University spirit squads will host a camp beginning at 9 a.m. for all high school students, including graduated seniors.
“We are excited to bring in athletes who are looking to improve their stunt and tumbling skills. This clinic will not only allow graduating seniors to improve their skills, but it is open to all high school students who are looking to improve in the sport of cheerleading,” announced Wisby.
The clinic will be free of charge, and participants will receive a t-shirt and a tour of the WBU campus, as well as skills training and the opportunity to showcase current skills. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the camp. A tour of the WBU campus will take place upon the conclusion of the camp at approximately 12 p.m. Parents are invited to watch and join in on the tour.
Prior stunt and tumbling experience is not required to attend the clinic. The squad will have training opportunities ranging from very experienced to zero experience.
The 2019-20 school year will showcase the first ever competitive cheer team at Williams.
“The team still has scholarship opportunities available for this coming year. We are currently recruiting additional mascots, sideline members and competitive members,” said Wisby.
