Porter Union returns to Boots, Bands & BBQ
The traditional country sounds of Porter Union will return to the Salem Civic Center during the Fulton County Hospital Foundation’s Boots, Bands & BBQ fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 2.
Cole Michael Porter and wife Kendra Porter, of Springfield, Mo., have crisscrossed the country performing for a decade. They recently were selected by Travis Tritt as contestants on “Real Country” on USA Network. Descriptions of their songwriting focus on its honest storytelling and raw emotional themes – fitting for a couple that met in a hometown bar and fell in love while writing and performing together. Those at the inaugural Boots, Bands & BBQ fundraiser in 2017 will remember the duo.
Doors will open for Boots, Bands & BBQ at 5 p.m., and Porter Union will perform at 6 p.m.
Chuck Young and Friends, a local favorite, will take the stage at 7 p.m. and give attendees the chance to kick up their heels. The group’s sets include classic country favorites along with Southern rock classics.
Concert-goers should bring an appetite. Barbecue with all of the trimmings as well as hot dogs will be sold.
In addition to the great music and food, the event will include a silent auction and 50/50 drawing where the winner will take half of the pot.
Proceeds from the event will go toward Fulton County Hospital’s purchase of a new telemetry system, which will benefit all patients.
Tickets to Boots, Bands & BBQ will be available at the door. Individual tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6-12 and nothing for children ages 5 and younger.
Sponsorships ranging from $50 to $2,500 are available and help the foundation’s fundraising efforts. Those interested in a sponsorship or donating an auction item may call 870-895-6209 or go to www.facebook.com/FultonCountyHospitalFoundation for more information.
